Why this blog?

So many thoughts . . .  an endless array of questions . . .

So much to say . . . and now finally a forum . . .

I suppose it’s an overstatement to claim that I have an opinion on everything, but I’m fairly certain that’s only because there are things to which I’ve yet to be exposed.  For everything else, rest assured, I’ve turned it inside out and upside down; I’ve listened to the arguments and weighed the evidence; I’ve done the research, pondered the possibilities, debated the points, and changed my mind whenever necessary.  I may still be haunted or perplexed by lingering questions, but in the end, there’s always one thing on which you can depend — I have an opinion.

This then is my stoa, my public place to voice my thoughts, state my opinions and ask my questions.  Here, through the wonder of modern technology, I can reach those who care, those who think.  I can share my thoughts and more importantly, open a dialog.  Together, we can explore the vast and intricate fabric of life in the 21st century.  We may revel, and we may mourn; we may chime in agreement or clash in debate, but one thing is certain: if we do this, we will learn.

I’m not selling anything, nor am I pushing an agenda.   I’m not here to convince anyone of anything.  If what I have to say can hold water, then my position itself will carry the day.  If not, then you will hopefully set me straight.  My goal is nothing less than that ascribed to the sages of ancient Greece, to “Know Thyself.”  My promise is, therefore, honesty and a willingness to listen.

I invite you to come along on this journey.  I know not where it will lead, but I trust it will be interesting . . .
